The 11th and 12th June 2005 was a weekend of much activity. There was a two-day art exhibition in the Community Centre, a 'proms'/rock concert and the parade and gala. A special celebration ale was brewed for this year's event - 'Mayor's Tipple'. Events were sponsored by the Penistone 3-9ers, Round Table, Toyota, HSBC and various quangos.
Penistone Proms and Rock Concert - Saturday 11th June 2005:
Penistone Proms' -
Thurlstone Brass Band - Langsett Dance Orchestra - Millhouse Green Male Voice Choir - Razzmatazz
'Rock and Pop Concert' -
Blues Buddies - Badness
Penistone Parade & Gala - Sunday 12th June 2005:
The Parade - The theme was "Countries of the World". This year had a smaller parade than usual but saw the return of a troup of majorettes and the usual enthusiasm went into preparing the floats. It was all worth it for Mrs. Hinchliffe's regal wave from the mayoral vehicle, an open-top Citroen 2CV.

The Gala:
Quite a big turnout at the Gala. It was a cold and windy afternoon with occasional sunny moments. Steady rain arrived later in the afternoon, too late to matter much. The crowd enjoyed the big inflatable wrestlers and a majorettes display. An army assault course and small funfair was popular with the young 'uns. Here were a few of the attractions (and otherwise?)
