An Annual Event
The Parade weekend is gaining more momentum each year and our number two event after Penistone Show. This year had a musical day on the Showground with a daytime 'Prom' concert and an evening rock concert. The Parade had a hot sunny day and a good turnout with no fewer than three bands of various kinds. Penistone Art Group exhibited more than 100 paintings in the Community Centre over the parade weekend and the Saturday coincided with a farmers' market.

Penistone Parade and Gala - Sun. 11th June
Parade
Parade left at 1pm, from the Showground, passing the British Legion, the cheering and waving throng on Market Street and High Street. Past the cheerful wrinklies of Green Park House and on to Clarel Street, Park Avenue and then back along Market Street to the Showground. Cheery and regal waves from all floats but especially our new Mayor, Cllr Nora Collett. Not yet 'Lord Mayor' as sponsor Toyota would have it, we are not a city. People on the floats threw sweets and squirted water into the crowd.
Gala - on the Showground
All the usual stuff with trade and craft stands, car salesmen, etc. Special features for the 2006 Gala:
The Round Table Website says much the same as the above.
