What was on in 2008

Local Events List
In 2008, Penistone Royal British Legion's club trip to Scarborough filled eight coaches, just like the old WMC days. Razzmatazz youth theatre group did well and spawned a senior section for mums and dads. The new James Bond film 'Quantum of Solace' showed on the general release day. Holmfirth and Huddersfield had big events for food and drink. Marsden had a Jazz festival and Birds Edge had its own festival. Nothing was rained off this year. Penistone Community Arts Festival was a new event for 2008 with performance and art events around town.

Christmas in Penistone
These pictures show die-hard Carol Singers hiding under their brollies at a very rainy Farmers' Market, with the Mayor and consort cheering them on. The lower pictures are from Steve Baumber's highly trimmed up house (Baumsville) in Shelley Close, with another group of locals braving sub-zero temperatures to hold a house party. They were accompanied by some Sheffield musicians. An ITV news-gathering unit turned up with Gaynor Barnes and it went out live on 'Calendar'.
